Action Plan 2010-11
Our Action Plan for 2010-11 has now been produced. This document provides a review of what the Partnership achieved during 2009/10 and also contains actions which the various partners will undertake during 2010 - 11.
The Strategic Assessment undertaken during the autumn of 2009 identified the priority areas for the Partnership to tackle during 2010/11 and the Action Plan is divided into sections related to each priority area. Partners have identified specific actions that they can undertake in order to achieve results and make the borough an even safer place to live, visit and work.
Key issues for the Partnership to address during 2009/10 are to:
- Tackle anti-social behaviour including: targeting persistent offenders, improving perceptions, tackling substance misuse and environmental crime.
- Tackle violent crime including: domestic abuse, night time economy violence and violence in a public place.
Strategy and Action Plan 2008 - 2011
The Community Safety Partnership Strategy and Action Plan 2008 - 2011 sets out our expectations of what we will deliver in the next three years; how we will monitor our performance and how we will communicate to local people. We have also produced a summary leaflet which gives brief details of what is contained within the Strategy and Action Plan.
The aim of the CSP over the next three years in to make the borough an even safer place for residents, visitors and businesses. The CSP will achieve this aim through increased partnership working. Improved communication between partners is seen as a key action and a new communications strategy will be developed to help strengthen the lines of communication between all partners.
The CSP has set six priority areas which it will tackle through targeted actions. This action plan is contained within the Strategy document. Full details about the priorities are available in the Strategy document.
Performance of CSP targets 2006/7
The CSP has recently published a document showing how it performed against its targets for 2006/7. In this Review of Performance it can be seen that out of 51 actions, 26 were achieved. Unfortunately 17 were not achieved, 3 were abandoned during the year and for five actions, the data was not available.
The CSP will produce a similar document for its targets for 2007/8 and this will be published throughout the year.
Action Plan/Control Strategy 2007/8
The CSP has prepared its Action Plan/Control Strategy 2007/8. The purpose of this document is to set out the CSP's priorities as themes, provide an overview, identify problems within each theme and set intelligence, prevention and enforcement priorities. The strategy documents the problems that the CSP has identified and looks at what it can do to reduce or prevent it from continuing. It provides SMART targets within each theme to measure the CSP's success.
This year the CSP has 11 themes included within the plan. These are:
- Anti-social behaviour
- Criminal damage
- Environmental crime
- Fear of crime
- Geographic focus areas
- Hate crime
- Substance misuse
- Theft
- Vehicle crime
- Violent crime
- Young people
Action Plan 2006/7
In support of the three year strategy the partnership prepares and delivers an annual Action Plan. This year the Action Plan also followed the principles of the Police National Intelligence Model and included enforcement, prevention and intelligence priorities that the partnership needs to action to ensure that targets are met. As the Action Plan also includes the NIM approach it will also be known as the 'Control Strategy'.
Specific actions contained in each year's action plan are monitored and evaluated to ensure aims and objectives are met. The partnership has created sub-groups to implement actions and monitor progress in respect of each of the three strategic themes. These sub-groups report to the strategic group on progress.
Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy 2005-2008
The Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy 2005-2008 sets out the Partnership's priorities, aims and objectives against which it can be judged in tackling crime and disorder over the period April 2005 - March 2008. It intends to do this by maximising and co-ordinating the resources of the principal partner agencies as well as other organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
The Partnership has decided to focus its efforts during the period April 2005 - March 2008 on improving the Quality of Life for residents and visitors to the Borough by addressing a number of priority areas. The intention of the Partnership is to tackle those issues which cause the most concern to the community by addressing offences and their root causes. The priority areas are:
- Criminal damage
- Offences against the person
- Substance misuse
- Environmental crime
- Anti-social behaviour
As well as paying particular attention to the Priority Areas the Partnership will continue to monitor all categories of crime and disorder, where appropriate undertake further studies and respond as necessary to address any specific increases or concerns that emerge during the life of the Strategy.
Anti-Social Behaviour Policy
The Anti-Social Behaviour Policy identifies what the CSP defines as anti-social behaviour, the priorities it has identified to be tackled in the borough, the methods, powers and measures that will be used to tackle the problems and the agencies who will be involved and their role within the process.
Strategy 2002 - 2005
The partnership decided to concentrate on three main themes in its Crime and Disorder Strategy for 2002-2005.
These were Crime Reduction, Drug, Alcohol and Substance Abuse and Anti-Social Behaviour.
Action Plan 2005/6
In support of the three year strategy the partnership prepares and delivers an annual Action Plan. See the Action Plan 2005/6 for information about the CSP's actions/projects.
Specific actions contained in each year's action plan are monitored and evaluated to ensure aims and objectives are met. The partnership has created sub-groups to implement actions and monitor progress in respect of each of the three strategic themes. These sub-groups report to the strategic group on progress.
Audit 2004
The CSP produces an Audit every three years. The latest audit was undertaken during the summer and autumn of 2004 and is to enable the CSP to prepare and implement a strategy for the reduction of crime and disorder over the three year period April 2005 - March 2008.
The Audit 2004 was based on data collected from a variety of sources such as Kent Police, Kent County Council, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and Kent Drug and Alcohol Action Team and it showed that the CSP was successful in reducing vehicle crime, burglary, robbery and drug offences. However, instances of criminal damage and violent crimes had increased. The CSP proposes that, while continuing to tackle all categories of crime and disorder, it will focus particular effort on preventing anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and domestic violence (which accounts for 62 per cent of all violent crimes recorded in the borough) as well as stepping up enforcement action and offering support and treatment for those affected by those issues.
CSP leaflets
The CSP have produced several leaflets which are freely available to download. Many of the leaflets give information and advice on how you can keep yourself and your property free including leaflets on the CSP, Anti-social behaviour, Car crime, Burglary, Internet safety, Shopping Safely and Personal Safety. The other leaflets give specific information about how to 'Keep Christmas Crime Free', be a good neighbour and information about Mini motos and off road bikes.
