Action Plan

An action plan has been developed for 2010/11 which will address the priority areas agreed in the Strategy Plan for 2008-2011. All partners have been involved in setting these actions and it is hoped that the actions will have an impact in reducing crime and disorder within the borough. The Action Plan does not include details about the numerous activities already undertaken by the Partnership, town and parish councils, the voluntary sector and others as part of their day to day work.

Also included within the Action Plan are actions to tackle alcohol misuse. The Government's document 'Safe. Sensible. Social. The next steps in the National Alcohol Strategy' (2007) required local areas to produce alcohol strategies. The Community Safety Partnership recognises that alcohol misuse can be linked to other issues such as acquisitive crime, domestic abuse and sexual health. The CSP has therefore chosen to incorporate actions to address alcohol misuse within the community safety strategy.

The Action Plan will shortly be available to download from the Publications page.

Current projects/initiatives include:

  • PACT Panels - PACT stands for Partners and Communities Together. A PACT Panel is made up of local people and representatives from local organisations. Together they aim to improve the long term quality of life of residents. Quality of life could include crime, health, education and learning, levels of work, housing and the physical environment, street lighting, noise, buse and postal services. Through PACT the community is enabled to influence and shape services ini their area, identify and communicate their priorities with partners and help create a community spirit and ownership for an area. More details about PACTs in the borough can be found on the PACT page of this website.
  • Community Domestic Abuse Programme for West Kent - this is a rolling programme of evening sessions. It is designed to help men who feel that their behaviour towards their partner has been, or still is abusive, to challenge their behaviour and to see how it is affecting their partner/ex partner and children who may be involved. For more information about the programme contact the Programme Manager on 07933 359210.
