Crime Prevention Panel

Crime Prevention Panel logo

The Tonbridge and Malling Crime Prevention Panel is a group of volunteers that meet to discuss issues of concern to residents in the borough.

The Panel is made up of residents of the borough, the Police, Parish Councils and KCC Youth Service. It meets once every two months at Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council Offices, Kings Hill.

The Panel has recently relaunched its graffiti reward scheme which offers £100 reward for anyone who can tell us the names of offenders causing graffiti. More details about this scheme can be found by looking at the news pages of the website.

In previous years the Panel has organised a 'Crime Crackers Quiz' for primary schools in the borough. All primary schools were invited to design a poster on criminal damage and these posters were judged by the Panel. The schools with winning posters were asked to attend a quiz, which took place at Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council offices at Kings Hill. The questions asked all related to crime and disorder issues and the children were able to learn about safety and crime prevention. The winning school won money towards their school and each child received a medal and small prizes.

The Crime Prevention Panel also addresses issues such as graffiti and litter and has undertaken 'Clean up' events which proved very successful.

Internet Awareness event

The Crime Prevention Panel organised an internet awareness event aimed at parents which was held on Monday 14 July 2008 at the Angel Centre in Tonbridge from 7.30pm. Murray Letham, an internet safety expert gave a presentation on how parents can keep their children safe online. The parents that attended found the presentation useful and informative. It is hoped that a similar event will be held again later in the year.
