PACTs (Partners and Communities Together)

A PACT (Partners and Communities Together) is made up of local people and representatives from local organisations. Together they aim to improve the long term quality of life of residents.

Quality of life issues could include crime and disorder, health, education and learning, employment, anti-social behaviour, housing, public transport, postal services and the physical environment e.g. street lighting, noise and litter. Through PACT the community is able to influence and shape services in their area, identify and communicate their priorities with partners and help create a community spirit and ownership for an area.

PACTs were originally established by Kent Police and a pilot PACT scheme was run covering Borough Green, Wrotham and Platt. From this pilot scheme a 'How to Guide' was produced showing how to improve the local area by forming a PACT and getting things done.

The Community Safety Partnership has recently produced a guidance document for local police officers on establishing a PACT. If an individual wishes to establish a PACT for their area they must first contact their local Police Community Support Officer or neighbourhood police officer to discuss arrangements for the PACT. Before a PACT is agreed the Community Safety Partnership will need to consider the need for such a PACT. Only once the CSP has agreed can a PACT be established.

There are a number of PACT meetings now running in Tonbridge and Malling. The list below gives details of these locations, contact details and minutes or action plans from previous meetings if available.
